I am sending you this email to commend you on your continued academic endeavors and congratulate you on taking a pivotal step in a direction that will solidify your personal future, broaden your academic opportunities and expand your professional skill set. Congratulations on becoming a member of the world renowned organization known as the National Society of Black Engineers!

Before we head into this upcoming academic year there are a few things that need to be covered in order to ensure that this year will be full of exciting and unforgettable experiences.

First – If you have not spoken with either our previous President Amirr Neal or I in regards to joining NSBE, please get in contact with me immediately. I want to ensure that I have a clear understanding of your needs and I want to be able to provide anything I can that will contribute to your future be it academically, professionally or personally. Also, if you have not done so already I need a list of your personal contact information, including best number to contact you by, intended major and your schedule for the fall which consists of the classes you will be taking, what time you will be in class and any outside time commitments that you have excluding school (work, family obligations etc.)

Second – We will have our first general meeting next weekend. I am offering two meeting dates and times. Please select from the following two dates/times to attend. ·
     August 10th, 5:00pm @ CSUB Library
     August 11th, 10:30am @ CSUB Library

Please keep in mind that the first meeting is highly recommended to attend due to the extensive information that we will cover and the opportunities that we will discuss.
If you are unable to make either of these meeting times then please get in contact with me immediately

Lastly
– I will be sending an email that has the tentative events for the academic year either by the end of this week or at the latest early Sunday. At the moment we only have one event scheduled. ·

Family Skate night at Rollerama West (7850 Brimhall Road Bakersfield, CA), August 8th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. This event will be held courtesy of the Chevron Black Employee Network in Bakersfield. You will get an opportunity to skate, mingle and have fun with industry professionals at Chevron. The first 6 people to RSVP with me will get free skates. Keep in mind that this is a very good opportunity to establish your networking connections with individuals who already have industry experience and may already have a well established background in engineering. I encourage everyone to attend!!   If you have any questions, comments or concerns I can be contacted at my email, [email protected] or my personal number 661-332-8957   Once again welcome to the NSBE Family and have a wonderful day!
